Creative City Lab stands for a world of innovative and sustainable solutions and collaboration. The foundation Creative City Lab is a joint initiative of forces from the corporate world, government, knowledge institutions and the creative industry. The goal is to realise societal and economical developments in a sustainable manner, through collaboration with all parties involved. Creative and sustainable solutions for urgent and complex issues are being developed and realised in this unique, open and innovative initiative. Over a period of half a year, 25 carefully selected top students will work together in multidisciplinary teams on their assignment. These students are guided by innovative parties from business and the creative industry. During the project, collaboration between the business world and the creative industry is essential.
The theme of 2009
Every year, Creative City Lab chooses a new theme. For 2009 this theme is: ‘Developing creative and innovative solutions for realising a climate neutral, existing, city district.’ In five strategic directions, multidisciplinary teams work on analysis, developing hypotheses, and creating solutions.
Our role
Innovation Factory is founding partner of Creative City Lab. We support Creative City lab with advice and two software tools from our Innovation Suite
Our Incubators are used as the centralised project environment, in which the participants, partners, organisation and other stakeholders collaborate. They use the incubators to gather and share valuable information, discuss it, and collaborate towards solutions. 14 Incubators are available for various research subjects, and with various levels of accessibility. For instance there is a specific incubator for each city district in which Creative City Lab is active. Additionally, each group has it’s own private Incubator. The members of the advisory board is also engaged through the Incubators, and have access to certain environments. This enables them to always be in touch with the progress that the research groups are making.
Our IdeaNet is used as a crowdsourcing tool. The participants deploy their own Idea Challenges and invite any type of contributors they see fit: inhabitants of the city districts, research partners, people from the creative industries, etcetera. Some challenges are even open to the general public, eg the Icon Project Idea Challenge. During the project, many more Idea Challenges are started.
