1power logoAchmea is a top 3 Dutch insurer. It grew by acquiring diverse Dutch labels and is proceeding with this strategy in Europe. A result of such a strategy is a large number of divisions, operating companies, brands, and staff departments that are all used to operate autonomously.

One of the wishes of the board was to get people to connect more between these entities and to share knowledge.

Innovation Factory was asked by Achmea Innovation Center of Excellence to facilitate this process.

We supply our InnovationHub as an enterprise social platform and help Achmea to manage and grow the community. The platform is called 1Power and was officially launched in June 2007.

1Power has four goals:

  • Better connection between colleagues
  • Improved knowledge sharing and retention
  • More collaboration and interaction
  • Better access to and enrichment of knowledge

Since its launch, the community has consistently grown in terms of scale and quality of interaction:

    • More than 50 innovations discussed
    • At least 60 participants helped directly by interaction with colleagues.
    • Over 200 different topics discussed
    • On average a forum topic has almost 5 reactions and 100 readers
    • 120 Achmea projects shared

      To our knowledge, there are no other internal communities that have shown such consistent growth in scale as well as quality.

      Innovation Factory both delivers the platform ‘InnovationHub’ and manages the community activity.
