Improving the innovative power of organisations is not an easy task. All organisational systems should support innovation. For example, the culture should support innovation by valuing entrepreneurship and risk taking; the reward and assessment systems should take into account the contribution to innovation made by employees and not only take current operations into account; budgeting systems should be able to accommodate innovative projects for which no clear ROI can yet be calculated, etcetera.

Many organisations do not know what they should do and where to start. Our innovation audit helps. Based on scientific research, we have developed an innovation audit that can be used to quickly assess the areas in your organisation that need to be addressed to ensure innovation will improve.

The innovation audit is executed through an online survey that has to be filled in by your employees. The audit results in knowlegde of the exact areas that need to be addressed to improve innovativeness. It helps you to focus the attention of the organisation on those areas that are the main barriers to innovation. Even more, it can also be used periodically to measure progress.

In many cases, we find that the innovation audit helps to change the attitude of the organisation towards innovation. The audit makes the employees’ perceptions and opinions explicit and thereby creates a common starting point for improvement. Broad views like “Our organisation cannot be innovative because…” are translated into defined areas. These areas can then be the focus of organisational change projects.
