As of January 17th Dura Vermeer starts an Open Innovation Challenge amongst its employees and clients. Employees of Dura Vermeer’s property development division will work together with those of housing corporations in order to share and develop ideas on creating vibrant neighborhoods that have a sound distribution between rent, buy and care homes.

After the first successful internal Idea Challenge, Kadaster – the Dutch land registry office – starts a new Idea Challenge today. The Challenge theme has the interest of several of Kadaster’s external partners. For this second Idea Challenge, Kadaster has decided to embrace open innovation and invite these external partners to participate! The increased diversity will bring more perspectives to the challenge, leading to more and better ideas. At the same time it will provoke inter-organisational learning on the subjects at hand.
We are very exited about the creative ideas that will result from this Idea Challenge!
Today, Strukton Rail and Innovation Factory launched Eureka!
Employees from the Netherlands, Belgium, Norway, Sweden and Germany are now able to share and enrich each other’s ideas in their very first Idea Challenge on the customised Eureka! platform.
Strukton Rail has existing experience with Idea Management and was looking for ways to professionalise process. Innovation Factory is happy to assist Strukton Rail in this!
PostNL has been announced as Supersector Leader for Industrial Goods and Services in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index 2011 (DJSI). This index ranks the 342 best performing companies in sustainability. Leonardo -the customized IdeaNet platform for PostNL- was mentioned as the instrument that initiated employee encouragement and engagement.

On Thursday September 22nd, the very first Innovation Factory seminar took place at Amsterdam Bright City in Amsterdam. Han Gerrits, CEO of Innovation Factory and Professor at Vrije Universiteit, provided the attendees with an up-to-date overview of most important academic research on Open Innovation and Idea Management. He discussed the pros and cons of new types of open innovation processes and – as a preview for his upcoming new book – a new typology for Open Innovation. Following, there was a presenatation by James Veenhoff, partner at Fronteer Strategy. James introduced four main types of co-creation and explained how and why to apply these types using inspiring cases. After the keynotes by Han and James, the audience had the opportunity to share their questions about open innovation, idea management and co-creation. Han and James then engaged in a lively discussion with the audience in order to make sure no questions would remain unanswered.

On June 18th, Professor Han Gerrits was one of the studio guests of TROS in bedrijf, a varied radio program with interviews by Peter de Bie en Tineke Verburg. TROS in bedrijf turns the spotlight onto the dynamics, economic importance and variety of Dutch entrepreneurs. During the interview, Gerrits explained Innovation Factory’s core activities, hereby highlighting the importance of open innovation.

Today and tomorrow, the RAI Amsterdam is a meeting place for around 15.000 decision makers in the marketing and communication business. MARCOM11 is a place to gain knowledge and inspiration, to experiment with gadgets and products but also to expand your network with new connections, friends and followers.
Our CEO Han Gerrits will be one of the speakers during this event. In his lecture, Gerrits will highlight the need to place Social Innovation at the top of the agenda. Other issues will also be addressed, from consumer research and concept development to full implementation of cultural change.
