On Thursday April 19th the second Innovation Factory seminar took place at the Innovation Leadership lab in Amsterdam. It was an inspiring and interactive afternoon.
Our first speaker, Jeroen Otto, gave insight into the stage-gate process at Heineken. Jeroen was responsible for introducing the successful Tapje, a beer draught system for home use. He showed us how the Tapje went through all stages, until it was launched onto the market. The presentation of Jeroen led to some interesting questions from the audience, mainly on what was needed to install such a refined stage gate process.
After the presentation of Jeroen, Rob de Graaf discussed the funnel from a more theoretical point of view. He pointed out four major themes that can either be success factors or failure factors in innovation: leadership, resources, the innovation process and tools.
In a break-out session, the participants were asked to split up in groups to discuss three of these themes. The teams discussed their experiences and identified a list of best practices within the themes. The identified best practices were presented back plenarily which led to a lively discussion on what is needed to strongly embed innovation in your organization.
We ended the seminar with drinks and off course there was a Tapje to test it! We look back upon an inspiring afternoon. We want to thank the speakers for their presentations and the participants for their interaction and sharing their thoughts about the innovation process.
Since pictures say more than words we made an overview of the seminar in a collage:
